The Ultimate Guide To Boarding Schools

In a nutshell, answers to common questions,we are a group of Boarding Schools for Teens, we provide 7 days a week by 24 hours a day supervised care. Each facility is made up of a secure, self contained, high school campus with separate gender dorms. Thus the teen gets to enjoy a high school experience while working on individual problems under strong supervision. A full school circulium of required school class room activities in Math, English and Science are followed daily. There is a regular physical education, sports programs, cheer, and social clubs. In addition we provide group and individual therapy to help change the teen's attitude into a positive experience. We use a historically tested demerit and merit system under close supervision day and night. The teen or student's improper and irresponsible behavior is addressed and corrected as needed. For the first period of the program the teen is contained to the campus. The teen under a merit procedure can gain more and more freedoms or privileges such as holiday visits. The parent seminars are meant to help the parent, to be able to keep the student, when he or she leaves the program, from returning to old patterns and slipping into poor behavior at home.

Cost for 7 by 24 care is expensive for young or old, but these programs qualify and can be financed via Sally Mae - low interest student loans to lessen the burden. Schooling monthly fees range from $1500 for Pillars of Hope campus to $3000-$4500 (location and space dependent) for most of the schools within the US. One parent recently financed a Pillars of Hope program for a mere $200 a month. Some parents choose month to month for immediate service and then get financial aid. Campuses are generally in remote locations away from influence of larger metropolitan areas. We have 15 schools within the United States (west, midwest, and east coasts) and three outside the US. Those outside the US are the most cost effective solutions. Our newest school is just 7 miles from the US border near San Diego.

Minimum contract period Aug-May is 6 months, but most teen problems take between 12 to 18 months to resolve. And some with previous drug dependencies even longer. Summer schools or boot camps are offered at some campuses with a minimum 3 month contract over the summer months.

I do not want to raise your fears but it has been the experience of those in the boarding school industry that your teen will have one of 5 outcomes. Percentages were reported to me by an admissions director of one of the schools.
  • Teen will make a change on his or her own (miracles and answered prayers do happen). 5% chance
  • Teen will runaway live on the streets. 20% chance
  • Teen will be caught up in the legal system. 55% chance
  • Teen will die due to drugs, gangs, or similar circumstances. 15% chance
  • Teen will have someone intervene in their life, receive treatment and make a lasting life fulfilling change. 5% roughly with help from parents, grandparents or other family and a proven teen program.
If you feel you can make the financial commitment to get your teen help and this is the type of program your teen needs please email me with your name, address, teens name, teen age, specific issues or worries about your teen, best time to call & a discrete phone number(s) and I will get one of our admission team members to get with you within 24 hours.

If the financing is beyond your family's means and I know some times $200 is beyond what some families can collectively do together. I have a recommendation for you. Two books I found as very helpful as a Parent

As a grandfather and father I know no owner manual came with your teen as a child. I am however concerned for the welfare of the next generation would like to offer this tip. Your child, now a teen, took years to develop the issues they have and it will take years to resolve them. The trick is to get them to recognize and take ownership of the problem then make the change themselves. But it can be done with a concentration of time, money, consistent effort, love, and prayers on your part. Programs speed up the process but never replace your love.

Sometimes a boarding school is the only solution to get them to take ownership of the problem.
